Mr. Gottschalk was approached in August 2011 based on his past concrete work experience in the Okanagan. He was polite, friendly and very approachable. Our structure had chunks of concrete missing that left internal rebar exposed. Rather than blindly mixing concrete and applying it to the structure in an attempt to repair it, Mr. Gottschalk’s advice had provided a more sustainable solution to the concrete structure that would ensure the repair job would not fail in subsequent years. He not only thoroughly explained the process to our engineering students on how concrete should be prepared, the materials required, and the curing times; he took time out of his busy schedule to repair the structure himself. He provided contact information for receiving the best materials for the job and explained the chemical properties that made them exceptional. Throughout the repair process, Mr. Gottschalk was easily reachable, and always had a polite, positive attitude. He performed the work out of kindness as a community activist, and there is no question he is able to deliver professional results.

We love the pattern as well, & the shade of the subtle greyish avocado green (how do you like that for a color description, well that’s what it looks like to me & I love it). Blends in with the house & the front tiles @ the front entrance. We highly recommend you guys to the people who have complimented us re; the work on our patio. The guys were so easy going & ready to go extra mile, eg: the lovely rose border you did for us & all the irrigation pipes that had to be changed!! A JOB WELL DONE!! On Friday, March 11, Cengiz Guldemet from Metro Testing, Bill Gottschalk from Okanagan’s Diversified Concrete Specialist and Matt Dalkie from Lafarge Cement presented a flatwork forum to 47 contractors and finishers for the Kamloops chapter of the Canadian Homebuilders’ Association of BC.
On Saturday, March 12, Jerry Dahl from MJ Concrete Pumping, Bob Martin from Challenge Concrete Pumping and Frank Antonio from F & F Concrete Pumping delivered Concrete Pump Operator Safety Training to 65 concrete pump operators and 2 WorkSafeBC operators.
Both session attendees completed evaluation forms rating the session in the good to excellent range, and we will follow-up with the instructors individually to review all the comments. In general, I think everyone got a lot out of the sessions, even the veterans that have been in the business for more than 20 years. What’s more, as instructors, your efforts contribute to raising the bar for the concrete industry in BC – through safer job sites, better product knowledge and improved communication in the field. And as always, BCRMCA is grateful for the essential non-dues revenue generated by these types of training.
